Conversational UX: Stripping away the solemnity

The core strategy was all about bridging the gap created by traditional legal jargon. Working from the technical structure and conversational flows provided by the client, we designed a user experience driven by Will—a virtual assistant who guides users step-by-step.

Our biggest design challenge was calibrating the interface’s tone. We meticulously crafted an experience that balances the rigor of a last will and testament with casual, everyday elements like GIFs, emojis, and approachable microcopy. This ensures users feel supported within a secure, reassuring conversation, transforming a traditionally solemn and overwhelming task into an engaging, manageable process.

Furthermore, the system architecture eliminates technical stress by autosaving progress, allowing individuals to pause and pick up right where they left off whenever they feel ready.

Dynamic UI and Interaction Components

Visually, the interface needed to project vitality and warmth rather than institutional rigidity. We developed a highly synthesized identity centered on the silhouette of the letter “W” to embody Will’s presence. This was paired with a cheerful, vibrant color palette and dynamic gradients that visually track the user’s progress.

To mitigate decision fatigue, we structured the navigation into a sidebar panel that breaks the process down into bite-sized steps, each with an estimated time of 3 to 5 minutes. This turns a traditionally complex task into something that feels entirely achievable in under a quarter of an hour.

Within the core interaction flow, the design replaces tedious data entry with specialized components like multi-select chips, fluid contextual menus, and predictive input fields. By streamlining these patterns, we accelerate decision-making without adding extra cognitive load.

Validation and Implementation

The product scope spanned everything from the bot-guided data collection to the final review and download stages. We designed an intuitive dashboard that provides a transparent, high-fidelity preview of the generated legal document, structuring the data so users can make quick inline edits before confirming.

To help the engineering team implement and test the MVP rapidly, we consolidated a comprehensive style guide and component system. This streamlined the handoff, ensuring that development agility wouldn’t compromise the aesthetic harmony or the warmth of the user experience we defined in the strategy.
